IOMP President's Message

Madan Rehani, PhD
President, IOMP

IDMP, CME credits, IOMP awards

Dear Colleagues,

We are now preparing for International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) 2021 which is celebrated every year on 7th November to commemorate the birthday of Marie Curie. Please keep a watch on IDMP 2021 webpage for activities and do send us your plans for inclusion on IDMP 2021 page.

In keeping with the theme of the IDMP 2021 of Communicating the role of medical physicists to the public, we have planned a webinar on 7th November to learn from communication experts. Most professionals have a tendency to keep actions within the fraternity.  The journalists do a great job in public communication. They shall guide us on how to go outside our comfort zones and how to reach out to a bigger audience of public, besides clinical colleagues in other specialties and patients. This is an important part, and I will encourage all our colleagues to do their bit in their own sphere of influence using the opportunity provided by IDMP 2021.  One discovers a new field altogether when one embarks on public communication. You are welcome to share your experience with us.

IOMP has decided to set up a Task Group to work out mechanisms for awarding CME credits for training events organized by IOMP.

The important IOMP awards and honors that shall be given at the next World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering 2022 are being announced. Please keep a watch on the News and Events page. As you might note that the call for nominations for Fellow of IOMP and Honorary membership of IOMP have already been announced with deadline of submission of nominations on dates in October.
