IMPW 2026 webinars, AOSR award-Kwan Hoong Ng, IDMP 2026, IAEA resources

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the June 2026 issue of the IOMP Newsletter. This edition brings together a range of important updates, recognitions, and resources that reflect the continued growth, diversity, and shared purpose of our global medical physics community.

As our profession continues to evolve in response to scientific progress, technological advancement, and the changing needs of healthcare systems worldwide, the role of IOMP remains rooted in promoting professional excellence, encouraging international collaboration, and supporting access to knowledge for colleagues in all regions. Through its partnerships, educational activities, and outreach efforts, IOMP continues to strengthen the voice and visibility of medical physicists and to highlight the essential contribution of our profession to patient care, quality assurance, radiation safety, innovation, and sustainable healthcare development.

This issue of the newsletter reflects many of these priorities. It highlights educational opportunities made available through IOMP initiatives, celebrates distinguished achievements within our professional community, and shares valuable resources that can support both individual practice and institutional development. It also reminds us of the importance of remaining connected as an international profession, learning from one another, recognizing excellence, and working collectively to address both current needs and future opportunities in medical physics.

We are pleased to feature the availability of the IMPW 2026 webinars online, enabling colleagues who were unable to attend live sessions to benefit from the discussions and presentations delivered during this important annual event. We also warmly congratulate Prof Kwan Hoong Ng on receiving the AOSR Award, a well-deserved recognition of longstanding and distinguished service to the field. In addition, we look forward to IDMP 2026 through the announcement of its theme and message, which will no doubt encourage engagement and reflection across the international medical physics community.

This issue also includes two freely available IAEA resources that offer timely and practical guidance in areas of growing relevance to our profession, including the training of radiation protection officers and the clinical implementation of artificial intelligence systems in medical imaging and radiotherapy.

As Treasurer of IOMP, I am proud to support initiatives that contribute to professional development, global cooperation, and equitable access to educational and scientific resources. These efforts are essential not only for strengthening our profession today, but also for ensuring that future generations of medical physicists are well equipped to meet emerging challenges and continue advancing high standards of practice around the world.

I hope you will find this issue informative, encouraging, and relevant to your work, and I thank all colleagues and partners whose commitment and collaboration continue to support the mission of IOMP.

With best wishes,

Hassan Kharita
