IOMP CPD Accreditation Report

ALFIM 2025 Pre-congress Course “Update on reference and relative dosimetry with application in E2E testing”, 7-8 March 2025, Guatemala

Arun Chougule, PhD
Chair, IOMP Accreditation Board

The IOMP Accreditation Board (AB) was established in 2016, initially focusing on the accreditation of medical physics education programs. Since 2019, the IOMP AB has expanded its role by accrediting Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs. To date, it has accredited 27 educational activities, assigning CPD points to each. Participants of these accredited programs receive CPD certificates, contributing to their professional development. This initiative has become one of the most valuable and popular activities under the IOMP AB.

Comprehensive information about the IOMP accreditation process—including the manual, application forms, and a list of accredited programs—is available at: https://www.iomp.org/accreditation/. For further details or support, please contact Prof. Arun Chougule, Chairman of the IOMP Accreditation Board, at [email protected].

I would like to highlight one of the recently IOMP CPD-accredited programs from Latin America:

The ALFIM2025 Pre-Congress Course, titled “Update on Reference and Relative Dosimetry with Application in E2E Testing”, was held at the Radiotherapy Department, Los Altos, Guatemala, from 7–8 March 2025. This course was accredited by the IOMP AB and was awarded 34 CPD points. Participants also had the opportunity for hands-on training at the Radiotherapy Facility in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.

The course attracted 24 participants from 8 Latin American countries and was offered free of charge. An examination was conducted at the end of the course, and all participants successfully passed, receiving both the 34 CPD points and a certificate of attendance.

Additionally, the entire ALFIM2025 conference was CPD-accredited by the IOMP AB, along with two other pre-conference workshops. This initiative significantly boosted participation in both the main conference and its associated training events.
