Medical Physics Residency Program – Call for Applications 2026

Fundación Médica de Río Negro y Neuquén (Leben Salud), in academic partnership with the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Comahue (UNCo), is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Medical Physics Residency Program 2026.
 
This structured clinical residency program is designed to provide comprehensive theoretical and hands-on training in the three core subdisciplines of Medical Physics, following international recommendations and aligned with recognized academic and regulatory standards.
 

Program Structure

Duration:

  • 3-year structured theoretical–practical residency program

  • Optional additional 1-year supervised clinical specialization in a selected subdiscipline

Core Training Areas:

  • Radiotherapy Physics

  • Nuclear Medicine Physics

  • Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging Physics

The program integrates advanced clinical exposure within a comprehensive oncology and diagnostic environment, emphasizing patient safety, quality assurance, and multidisciplinary collaboration.


Accreditation and Recognition

The program is:

  • Accredited by the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Comahue (UNCo)

  • Recognized by the Argentine Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARN)

  • Accredited within the IOMP-recognized academic and clinical training framework

The residency curriculum includes radiation protection training recognized for individual professional authorization purposes under national regulatory standards.


Positions and Financial Support

  • Available Positions: 2 funded residency slots

  • Residents receive:

    • Institutional stipend (updated periodically)

    • Health insurance coverage

    • Additional institutional support during training


Eligibility

Applicants must hold a university degree (minimum 5-year program or equivalent) in:

  • Medical Physics

  • Physics

  • Biomedical Engineering

  • Nuclear Engineering

  • Electronic Engineering

  • Or related disciplines with a strong foundation in physics and mathematics

International applicants are welcome. Degree revalidation in Argentina is not required for participation in the residency program (it is only required for professional licensing if the graduate later chooses to work independently in Argentina).


Selection Process

The selection process consists of:

  1. Online theoretical examination (Medical Physics-based, 100 questions).

  2. Personal interview (virtual format).

  3. Evaluation of academic and professional background.


Application Period

The official call is published through the Faculty of Medicine of UNCo.
The application period typically opens between March and April.
