IOMP is pleased to announce that the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP), with support from IOMP, will award grants to help cover the travel expenses of young medical physicists from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). These grants will enable young and early career medical physicists to participate in the World Congress on Medical Physics & Biomedical Engineering – 2025 (WC 2025). The Congress will take place in Adelaide, Australia, from September 29 to October 4, 2025.
(a) Grants according to the region
- SAARC region [Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka] and Asia – USD 1,000 (AUD 1,547)
- Africa, Middle East – USD 2,000 (AUD 3,095)
- Latin America – USD 2,000 (AUD 3,095)
- 9 candidates who meet the requirements will receive the grant.
- After the Conference, each awardee should submit, within 2 weeks, a short report to the IOMP Secretary-General on what was accomplished. This may be published in the IOMP newsletter at a later date.
(b) Criteria for application and the evaluation:
- The applicant should be under40 years as of 31 December 2025 and be within 5 years of research development in medical physics.
- The applicant should have an abstract accepted for presentation at WC 2025 and registered to attend the WC2025.
- The applicant should be the first author of the abstract.
- The applicant should not have received any previous IOMP travel assistance.
- The participant should be from an LMIC country.
- Articles approved as oral presentations will be prioritized.
(c) Nomination procedure
- Nominations should be made directly to the Chair of the Professional Relation Committee, included the copy of the abstract acceptance ([email protected]).The applicant should fill out the IOMP form for the grant:
(d) Evaluations
- Applications received shall be evaluated by the IOMP EXCOM, whose decision shall be final. Applicants should provide in their applications all relevant information for assessment by the Committee.
- The applicant should send the acceptance letter of the abstract.
The closing date for applications is noon (EST) on 17 August 2025.
