PRELIMINARY PROGRAM NOW LIVE – GET A FIRST LOOK AT WHAT’S AHEAD!

The IUPESM World Congress 2025 will spotlight transformative advances shaping modern healthcare. A key focus will be the integration of AI and machine learning into clinical practice, with sessions offering real-world insights into safe and effective implementation.

The program also explores immersive technologies—including Augmented, Virtual and Mixed Realities—revolutionising clinical education, rehabilitation and patient care. Delegates will experience firsthand how the metaverse is enhancing collaboration and innovation in healthcare.

Adelaide’s role as a medical innovation hub features prominently, with the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy and Research leading discussions on particle therapy and dosimetry. Grounded in the city’s historical ties to the Bragg peak, these sessions will cover global advances in precision radiation therapy.

Breakthroughs in 3D printing for personalised care will also be showcased, alongside an anticipated keynote by Dr Lars Juhl Jensen, a leader in biomedical data science and network analysis.

Above all, IUPESM 2025 is a platform for cross-disciplinary collaboration, uniting experts across fields to share, innovate and shape the future of global healthcare. Join us in Adelaide for a world-class program and unparalleled networking.

Late Breaking Research Abstracts

Didn’t submit in time for the original deadline? Good news – late breaking research abstract submissions are now open!

This is your final opportunity to present your latest research, innovations and discoveries in medical physics and biomedical engineering to a global audience at the IUPESM World Congress 2025. Selected abstracts will be featured as poster presentations.

• Showcase your cutting-edge work
• Connect with international experts and peers
• Make your impact on the world stage

Submissions close 11:59pm ACST on 7 August 2025.

Congress Workshops

We are excited to announce two workshops taking place at the Congress, designed to deepen your expertise and expand your practical skills.

GEANT4 bio-medical modelling workshop
Presenters: Prof Susanna Guatelli (Australia) and the team from University of Wollongong

Join this hands-on workshop to explore the Monte Carlo method in radiation physics, with a focus on biomedical applications. Learn how to get started with GEANT4 and discover how this powerful toolkit can simulate radiation interactions in medical physics and beyond.

Radiation shielding for medical linear accelerators
Presenters: Prof Melissa Martin (USA), Prof David Thwaites (Australia), and Dr Chris Trauernicht (South Africa)

In this practical workshop, discover the fundamentals of radiation shielding design calculations, with a focus on shielding for medical linear accelerators. Ideal for professionals in radiation facility planning, medical physics, and health physics, this workshop covers essential principles and approaches to support safety and compliance in clinical environments.

Attendance to these workshops is included with registrations and do not require pre-registration. Admittance to the workshops will be on a first-in basis until room capacity is reached.

Photography Competition

Time is running out to enter the photography competition for the IUPESM World Congress 2025!

We’re calling on scientists, engineers, researchers, and innovators to capture the spirit of our professions through photography. Submit your digital image in one of three categories:

🔹 Conference Theme: Bridging the Gap
🔹 General Category
🔹 AI-Created Images

Open to members and colleagues of Engineers Australia, ACPSEM, IUPESM, IFMBE and IOMP. Winning entries will be featured at IUPESM 2025 in Adelaide and beyond.

Let your image tell the story before time runs out on 1 August 2025.

Adelaide has long been a city that looks to the future. It’s not only home to the Australian Space Agency, but just 400km north lies one of the world’s largest land-based rocket test ranges, spanning more than 122,000 square kilometres of remote South Australian outback. From pioneering space exploration to driving innovation across science and technology, Adelaide fosters an environment where bold ideas and research breakthroughs take flight—both in the skies above and in fields like medical physics and biomedical engineering here on Earth.
