MINUTES OF THE 2ND SEAFOMP COUNCIL MEETING

  1. The Chairman welcomed all present and reported that he took advantage of their presence at the 1St SEAFOMP Workshop to invite them to this meeting.
  1. He added that the main objective of SEAFOMP is to promote Medical Physics activities with a view to raise the standards in the region. All medical physics organizations and individuals are welcome to join the SEAFOMP. However, each  member country can nominate only one representative to serve in the council for the moment.
  1. Everyone  agreed that there is an urgent need for SEAFOMP to have its constitution to give it legal standing and also to serve as a basis for interaction with the ASEAN Secretariat for funding or support. There is also the possibility for SEAFOMP to be brought under the ASEAN umbrella as one of the ASEAN Committees.  The Secretary was requested to inquire from the Department of Foreign Affairs in her country the requirements for ASEAN to accredit/recognize the SEAFOMP.   
  1. It was the consensus of the meeting that a draft constitution be prepared for circulation to member countries for comments and approval as soon as possible.
  1. To expedite the finalization and approval of the constitution, everyone agreed that communication shall be by email. All present were requested to give their email address to the Secretary.
  1. The Secretary was requested to assist the Treasurer in drafting the Constitution.
  1. Singapore was asked to explore the possibility of hosting the next SEAFOMP Workshop. TJ Wong said he would look into it.
  1. There being no other matters, the meeting ended at 6.10 p.m.
  1. The Chairman thanked all present.
