| Brief Description of Academic Program(s), Clinical Training, and Duration: Classroom and laboratory training are provided in all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic medical physics, including x-ray imaging, digital radiography, CT, MRI, PET, ultrasound, biomagnetism, brachytherapy, and external beam therapy. Clinical training is done in the UW Hospital radiology and radiotherapy departments. The MS program takes 2 years, and includes 27 credit hours, 3 professional "rad lab" courses and a comprehensive qualifier examination. Ph.D. research training is available in all imaging and therapy modalities. The Ph.D. requires an advanced pass on the qualifier, completion of a minor sequence of courses, passage of a preliminary examination, and completion and defense of a dissertation. Most students complete the thesis within 3 years after the M.S. degree. | |
