Admission Requirements for Citizen of the Country: Minimum requirement for consideration for the M.Sc. program is a B.Sc. in physics (honors or major) or equivalent, with an overall grade of at least 70% (3.0/4.0 GPA). Minimum requirement for consideration for the Ph.D. program is an M.Sc. in medical physics from an accredited program - applicants must also fulfill the general requirements of the Physics department and must pass the Ph.D. comprehensive examination in physics.
Additional Admission Requirements for Foreign NationalsM.Sc. program: Either a TOEFL (minimum 575/paper-based method, 231/computer-based method) or IELTS (minimum 6.5/9.0). Also, evidence of funding support for 2 years. Ph.D. program: same as for Canadian citizens.
Tuition fees (per semester, per year): For Quebec residents, approx. $2,700 Can. per year (M.Sc. and Ph.D.); for Canadian non-Quebec residents, approx. $4,800 Can. per year (M.Sc. - approx. $2,700 Can. for Ph.D.); for international students, approx. $9,000 Can. per year (M.Sc. and Ph.D.). Fees are subject to change each year.
Availability of Scholarship/Fellowship and Pertinent Requirements: (1) Student loans/bursaries available through the University (all students); (2) provincial loans/bursaries (Canadian students); (3) Differential Fee Waiver (1 per year - for international students: brings fees down to Quebec rate); (4) government grants (students may apply for NSERC or FCAR support: minimum grade point average of 3.5/4.0 in order to be considered); (5) AAPM fellowship for graduate study in medical physics (open to all students: highly competitive); (6) some support from individual faculty members' research grants; (7) graduate medical physics grant (from Quebec government: open to Quebec students).
